My daughter bought a four mo. old puppy, who came down with a terrible case of mange. For over a year, and well over $1,000 in vet bills and meds, and untold hours of bathing, dipping, and medicating the dog, I went out of town and forgot her meds. So I went to a local vet to buy some more and they tolde to try Promeris. The poor dog had no hair pn her back or tail and itches all the time. When I tried the ProMeris, the itching stopped and her hair grew started growing back within three days. She has been fine ever since. ProMeris ended a nightmare for me and the dog. She is also flea free.

This stuff does NOT work worth a damn I recently visited a friend that lives in the country in Alabama, when I returned home I gave my cocker a bath and a haircut. With all the hair gone I found well over a 100 ticks in her. I called the manufacturer, and the lady I talked to thought a 100 was no big deal and asked in a very smart ass attitude well what do you expect us to do! I said absolutely nothing!
Also I left a bad review on petsmart and petco and they didn't post the review they both hide most of the bad ones so their customers don't see them, which I find dishonest. In fact I am beginning to believe most reviews on everything are fake. But as far as K9 advantix it DOES NOT WORK!!! Save you money!

You said:

"...many of these reports are probably due to an allergic reaction from the dying fleas as opposed to an actual reaction to the product itself."

What? Where did you get that information? This is completely inaccurate. Permethrin can cause local skin reactions as well as penetrating into the nervous system causing incoordination, stumbling, and seizures. Dying fleas have no effect on the immune system of dogs or cats.

A couple words of wisdom as well: Permethrin and other pyrethroids have become much less effective over time due to developing resistance in fleas, especially in the south. There is also very little residual activity with these products - there is no way they will keep fleas away for a month. With so many safer, MUCH more effective products on the market, why take the risk? Buyer beware: you get what you pay for.

Also: any product containing permethrin is EXTREMELY toxic to cats, and should NEVER be used on a cat or on any dog that a cat is likely to be in close contact with and be grooming.

Myl dog is heartworm positive and I have chosen a more conservative form of treatment. With doxcycline and then ivermectin rather than put him through the painful shots. Anyone out there had success with this?

It's worked fine for our German Shepherd (so far). However, like any other med, one never knows how a pet will react to it. My dog had a very bad reaction to Prion. It caused him to seize. Luckily, we discontinued the medication and the problem soon went away ...

I don't know if this will help anyone, but there are a few videos in this article that I found helpful. In particular, the second video explains how the dog and the cat version are made of the same stuff, but the cat version is dosed differently due to a difference in metabolism.

We tried using Frontline for several months consecutively on our dog and cat, and it did not work. Frontline refused to give us a refund for our unused applicators. I know several people who have tried Frontline and say it is no good. One vet in our area has stopped selling it because of so many complaints. Comfortis tablets for dogs work great. During the cooler months we sprinkle a little garlic on the dog's food and he never has a flea, but we have to give him the tablets during the summer.

My healthy 2 year old male cat had a massive heart attack the day after we applied the proper dose of Frontline to the back of his neck. The vet has not heard of any similar reactions to Frontline. I think that my cat's death was a lethal reaction to the Frontline medication. Beware of using Frontline if you love your cat.

I gave Comfortis to my 55 pound pit bull. About 4 hours later she became very nervous and experienced extreme salivation. The next day she was very lethargic and had a decrease in her appetite. My dog is prone to some allergies. I am taking her to the vet in the morning because she is still very lethargic with a decreased appitite.

I was shocked to find a positive review.... I was looking for a review that was positive because I've seen all the bad reviews of Promeris. Most of the reviewers on the internet say that their dogs got sick. However, I've been using this for three months and none of the reviews are accurate to what my experience was. My puppy was fine she was perfectly okay. I put it on left her alone for an hour to let the medicine dry. She suffer no tremor no shaking no vomiting not pain no problems. She does seem a little sleepier but she is a pup. Btw... the reason the doctor prescribed promeris is because she had scabies not the human type... and it cleared them up in two months... her hair has grown back and she no longer is losing hair. This product for me was great for $44 bucks I killed fleas ticks and scabies which.... the scabies would have costed way more for dips and other things. All I know is she got better and maybe it was the comined effort of eating, multi-vitamins and promeris but I swear by promeris! Our pup had almost all her hair gone and dry flakes... she was bad off. But Promeris helped!! I wonder if the negative reviews are by other flea tick medication because promeris works.... in all areas... I have not seen a flea or tick on this dog since putting this medication on and we go to the park and hiking etc.
