Deramaxx For Dogs Review

General Product Information

Deramaxx is an anti-pain and anti-inflammation medication primarily intended for use with dogs. Deramaxx has been shown to be particularly effective for dogs suffering from osteoarthritis, which is a degenerative condition that primarily attacks the joints of your dog. Deramaxx is available in beef flavor, and comes in chewable tablet form. You will need to secure a prescription from your veterinarian in order to purchase Deramaxx.

Among the benefits of Deramaxx as claimed by its manufacturers are: the ability to control pain and inflammation effectively, the ability to treat arthritis in dogs–particularly the osteoarthritis variety, its properties as a non-steroidal medication, and its tasty chewable tablet form that most dogs would have no trouble ingesting.

Deramaxx

Deramaxx

Deramaxx is classified as a COX-2 inhibitor that effectively blocks the COX-2 enzyme. This is a particularly significant effect, as the COX- 1 enzyme is actually essential for many of the normal body processes, as opposed to the COX-2 enzyme, which causes painful inflammation in the joints of your pet.

Available in 25 mg, 75 mg, and 100 mg tablets, Deramaxx has been approved by the FDA for use in canines. As with all medications, it is important to ask your doctor about Deramaxx before giving it to your pet. You should also be sure to tell your veterinarian about any allergies that your dog may have to aspirin or any other type of medication, any ulcers or internal bleeding, or a previous history of liver, heart, and kidney disease.

You should also inform your veterinarian of your pet’s previous history of high blood pressure, and any fluid retention that he may be experiencing. Also make sure to tell your veterinarian if your dog is pregnant or nursing, or if she is undergoing treatment with a steroidal medication.

Possible Side Effects as Acknowledged by the Manufacturer

According to the manufacturer of Deramaxx, dogs that are given this medication may experience incidences of abdominal pain that may be accompanied by discomfort and bloody or dark colored stools. Some dogs may also show signs of spotting or blood in the vomit. Some other side effects that you may notice are a general feeling of restlessness, inactivity, fatigue, and depression in your pet.

You should also look out for signs of rashes and itching, yellowish eyes, or unusual bleeding and bruising, as these may be signs of an abnormal reaction in your pet. If you notice one or more of these symptoms, stop using Deramaxx immediately and bring your pet to a veterinarian for a consultation.

Customer Reviews and Ratings

Most customers have been using Deramaxx for a number of years now with favorable results and very little side effects. One customer reports using Deramaxx on her Labrador who had previously been having trouble getting around and walking up the steps. The Labrador in question was already 11 years old, which would perhaps partly explain his condition. After being given Deramaxx however, much of the dog’s previous strength and vigor was restored, and he now is able to do pretty much all of the activities that he was able to do as a young pup.

One other customer administered Deramaxx to a Berner who was more than four years old and has since been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Upon the recommendation of a veterinarian, the dog was given Deramaxx every day for three days, after which the improvement was considerable. Deramaxx seems to do wonders for dogs with back pain and hip dysplasia too.
