General Product Information
Previcox is an anti-inflammatory medication of the nonsteroidal variety. Its primary function is to reduce pain, swelling, and fever. For this reason, Previcox is typically used in the treatment of osteoarthritis related pain and inflammation. Previcox is also available as the generic form Firocoxib, and is ideally suited to dogs that are seven weeks or older.
Previcox comes in chewable tablet form that is easy for most dogs to ingest. Previcox is a flavored tablet that can be given as part of the meal or on its own. Previcox also offers the benefits of being relatively fast acting.

Previcox
Previcox has the effect of inhibiting the COX-2 enzyme in the body. This enzyme is partially responsible for causing pain, inflammation, and fever in the body. As with all medications of a similar nature, you should consult with your veterinarian prior to use, particularly if your pet has had an allergic reaction to similar types of medications in the past, or if he has previously suffered from any serious medical condition.
Previcox tablets are available in 57 mg packs of 10 and a 60 tablet bottle.
Possible Side Effects as Acknowledged by the Manufacturer
Previcox can result in a number of side effects in certain susceptible animals, which may range from the fairly inconsequential to the quite serious. If you notice any signs of abnormal behavior or unusual changes in your pet’s physical condition, you should stop giving your dog Previcox immediately, and take him to a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Among the side effects that you could expect from Previcox are bloody stools and/or blood in the vomit, water retention that may result in sudden weight gain, bruising or bleeding, and severe allergic reactions. Some dogs may also develop skin rashes and intense itching, and hives may develop on the face and tongue. In severe cases, your pet may even suffer from diarrhea and nausea in addition to more serious symptoms.
Customer Reviews and Ratings
Most customers have favorable results to report about using Previcox. Numerous reviews on the Internet show an overwhelming number of satisfied customers, many of whom have been using Previcox on and off for a number of years. One owner reports giving Previcox to her Labrador that had previously been having trouble getting up from a prone position. It took only three days of daily treatment before the dog was able to easily manage these and many other previously impossible tasks.
One other customer review was a bit more compelling. It involved a German Shepherd that was attacked by another dog at only two years of age. This resulted in a permanent spinal condition that was the source of much pain and suffering. The owner had previously given up hope for the dog until being prescribed Previcox by an alternate veterinarian. It took several months of combined treatment with Previcox and other veterinarian approved medication, but the German Shepherd was eventually able to regain most of her mobility back, and was in fact more active than she had ever been in her life.
Still another owner tried Previcox on her dog that had gradually deteriorated physically over the years mainly due to arthritis. The dog had already undergone surgery and had developed canine arthritis as a result. In this situation, Previcox managed to help the dog regain her previous sunny disposition, and she was even better than before after only a week of Previcox treatment. Most customers are satisfied with the performance of Previcox, as well as its relative low cost.
