Revolution For Dogs Review

General Product Information

Revolution is a topical medication that is intended for monthly application. Its primary use is for flea, ear mites, and heartworm prevention. According to its manufacturer, Revolution will also protect your dog from tick and mange infestation, and your cat from hookworms and roundworms. Revolution is available only by prescription from a licensed veterinarian. Among the benefits offered by Revolution – safe and easy application and sufficient potency to require only a once a month application.

Revolution essentially works by seeping into the skin of your pet and eventually working its way into your pet’s bloodstream. It is composed primarily of Selamectin, which is an effective deterrent against heartworm disease after it has managed to make its way into the tissue and bloodstream of your dog or cat. This ingredient also later works its way to the surface of the skin, where it will effectively kill fleas, mites, and various forms of ticks, as well as prevent the hatching of any flea eggs present. Since Selamectin also functions as an anthelminthic, it is an effective remedy for intestinal parasites that ingest the substance from the blood of your dog or cat.

Revolution

Revolution is not intended for use on animals that are sick or underweight. Users should also dry their pet’s hair thoroughly before administering this medication. It is also important to have your dog tested for heartworms before deciding to use Revolution. Since this medication can cause irritation to the skin and eyes of humans, you have to make sure to wash your hands carefully after administering Revolution to your pet.

Revolution is manufactured by the animal health division of Pfizer, and is available in packages of 3, 6, and 12 doses.

Possible Side Effects As Acknowledged By The Manufacturer

Users that apply Revolution to their pets may notice some temporary hair loss on the area where the medication is applied. In addition, some pets may also experience vomiting and diarrhea, as well as decreased appetite. Some other side effects that you may notice are rapid breathing, unusual drowsiness, tremors, and significantly increased heart rate.

Resolution should not be given to pets that are already undergoing treatment for heartworms with other types of medications. If you are switching over to Revolution after previously using another heartworm medication, you should begin applying it when the next dose of the previous medication is scheduled.

Customer Reviews And Ratings

Most owners that use Revolution on their pets generally report favorable results, even after using the product for several weeks. One customer reports of a Chihuahua that was suffering from a severe case of mange when she received the dog. It took only two treatments with Revolution before the dog’s coat was completely back to normal and regained a luxurious gloss and shine. This owner has since begun using Revolution on all of her dogs.

One other customer reports switching over to Revolution after previously using another flea treatment medication for a number of months. After experiencing less than satisfactory results with the previous medication, this customer noticed a considerable improvement in her dog’s condition. The same customer also uses Revolution on her cats, and noticed much less hair loss in her pets compared to using the previous product. The user was also encouraged by the fact that Revolution serves as an effective heartworm treatment as well.

Finally, one customer reports administering Revolution on a Yorkie that had numerous sores underneath his coat. After consulting with a veterinarian, the user began treatment with Revolution. After only a few days use, the puppy made a remarkable recovery and has been in perfect health ever since.

I have had my dog on Revolution for the past year and he now has heartworms….he did not have them before using your preventitive. I was told by my vet that the company will possibly pay for his treatment which is what I do expect. But, what if my dog dies? Who will pay for my emotional pain? What is going on with the heartworm preventives that they cannot even kill these “new” kind of heartworms? This situation has lit a fire inside of me and I will not back down until something is done about keeping the animals of this country safe from these parasites. No, I am not an anmial activist!!! I am just a concerned citizen who has a beloved pet that is a family member and everything to me. He is my world and my best friend. I have seen what heartworm treatments do to dogs…it is inhumane, but there is no other alternative except eventually death to the animal. I hope that Phzier will find a new drug that will kill this new strain of heartworm so that our pets will be safe again.
